In 2021, The Nelson Foundation began a comprehensive, stakeholder informed strategic planning process. Nearly one year later, the Foundation has approved a plan with a new strategic direction that reflects a commitment to racial equity and social justice. The new mission and vision statements can be found here, and our DEI statement, values, and strategic pillars that will guide our work are below.
This plan will position the Foundation to be more equitable in its organizational practices, including grantmaking, communications, evaluation, and partnerships. You can find a copy of the plan that includes a brief background on the process and lists more specific goals here.
