On behalf of the staff and Board of The Nelson Foundation, I am reaching out to let you know what is going on at the Foundation during this turbulent and uncertain time. For now, Jenny and I are working remotely, but we are in touch daily. So, please rest assured that the work of the Foundation continues unabated: from the mailing of interim grant payments last week, to reading spring grant applications, and preparing for our next Board meeting. We have full access to email, voicemail and our grantmaking system.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will also spend time figuring out, with the input and support of our Board of Directors, what the Foundation can do to be supportive to you, our nonprofit partners, and the communities that you serve. This is a unique situation that we all need to navigate together. To that end, please do not hesitate to reach out and let us know what is going on in your organization and in your community.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of resources with you. First, I received an email last week from FMA (Fiscal Management Associates), which presents a useful framework for organizing a response to the Coronavirus crisis. Click here. In addition, Philanthropy Network of Greater Philadelphia has built a Coronavirus section on their website, which includes Tips and Tools for Nonprofits. Click here.

This is a challenging time for everyone. The staff and Board of The Nelson Foundation are thinking of you, your staff, and the community you serve.

Best Regards,
Mindy
